We love the super-cute names that bartender Audrey “Libation Goddess” Saunders picks for her drinks. We love drinking them even more. This shooter is best shaken with ice, of course – but it also makes a nice flask cocktail to pack along when ice isn’t available.
This drink relies on a nifty effect from the menthol in mint fernet like Branca Menta. That menthol activates the same tongue-sensors that tell your brain something is cold, so the drink actually “tastes” cold, even when it isn’t. Science!!ß
Saunders calls for bourbon in her original recipe, but we’ve tried it with rye, and found that the peppery flavors brought a welcome little bit of spice to play with the crisp bite of the mint amaro.
