All Spice and Everything Nice

All Spice and Everything Nice sour cocktail with bourbon, lemon juice, honey syrup, allspice dram, and orange bitters

All Spice and Everything Nice is a citrusy remix of the Lion’s Tail, an old bourbon cocktail that features the heady, exotic flavor of allspice dram.

Darnell Holguin at Fifty in New York City took the classic recipe and lengthened it with extra citrus (lemon instead of lime, here), swapped out the aromatic bitters for orange, and used honey syrup in place of simple (a formal codification of a typical substitute in the Lion’s Tail).

The result is a touch more drinkable than the original, with a more muted allspice flavor coming through on a fresh, bright cloud of lemon and honey.

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into an ice-filled short glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a few whole cloves, if you’ve got ’em – we like to press the cloves into a strip of lemon peel or half a lemon slice, so that they don’t inadvertently get slurped up with the drink.

Get the App

The Cocktail Party app puts this drink – and hundreds more – in your pocket, and tells you what you can make from the ingredients you have at home. It's the best $3.99 you'll ever spend on a drink.

Game Changer

This is a game changer. When you're at the liquor store, thinking, "Yeah, ok fine what does Ancho Reyes liquor get me?" you open the app, look up Chile liquor and see that it gets you like 11 new cocktails. This is addictive, and indeed worth the price. We're having a blast under quarantine. While some of the ingredients are kind of anonymous, the icons look like the Campari bottle, and the descriptions often tell you if Campari will work or if you need Aperol. If you <3 cocktails, get this.
