As the story goes, English stage actor Sir Charles Hawtrey sauntered into the bar at the Savoy Hotel and asked for something “with a bit of a punch.” Bartender Ada Coleman produced this sweet Martini riff with a splash of minty Fernet Branca, prompting a pleased Hawtrey to call it “the real hanky panky!”
