Jade

We confess that we’re huge fans of Midori and other candy-melon liqueurs. They’re lowbrow, neon, and fun – what’s not to love? But finding good drinks that call for melon liqueur is a challenge; many recipes add so many sweet ingredients that the resulting drink is a sugar bomb.
We thought this Jade recipe, from Food & Wine (but now a dead link), might be one of those saccharine abominations, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out it’s quite the opposite. It’s rich, tart, and mildly sweet – a perfect poolside sipper.

Ingredients
- ¾ part Vanilla vodka
- ¼ part Melon liqueur
- 1 part Pineapple juice
- ½ part Simple syrup
- ½ part Lime juice
- ¼ part Lemon juice
Instructions
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail or coupe glass. It’s pretty enough that it doesn’t need a garnish, but a white edible flower sets off the citron color nicely.
