Naked & Famous

Death & Co mixologist Joaquín Simó is the mastermind behind the Naked & Famous, one of our absolute favorite twists on the venerated Last Word template. It’s got four ingredients, but a hundred different flavors: sweet, smoky, tart, and herbal are just the beginning.

Simó’s recipe calls for yellow Chartreuse, the sweetest of the yellow herbal liqueurs. It’s difficult to recommend a substitute here, since its sweetness plays such a big part of the drink’s balance. Similarly, the citrus apéritif used can really only be Aperol, since again it provides much of the drink’s sweetness.
