Nigori Milk Punch

A milk punch without milk? Sure, we were skeptical – but Jim Meehan (of PDT and other mixological ventures) hasn’t ever steered us wrong, so we gave it a shot. We’re glad we did; the Nigori Milk Punch is a creamy, lovely cocktail that quickly became one of our favorite ways to showcase unfiltered nigori sake.
The PDT Cocktail Book recipe calls for Navan, a vanilla liqueur. You could use Tuaca or Licor 43, although they have a little more citrus and a little less vanilla. The recipe also calls for Feldman’s Barrel Aged Bitters, but if you can’t find that brand, you can use another brand of barrel-aged bitters, vanilla bitters, or even just Angostura.

Ingredients
- 2 parts Nigori sake
- 1 part Cognac or Brandy
- ½ part Vanilla liqueur
- 3 dashes Aromatic bitters
Instructions
Stir with ice for about twenty seconds. Strain into a small chilled cocktail or coupe glass, and garnish with grated nutmeg.
