Rosita cocktail with tequila, Campari, vermouth, and bitters

Rosita

We never seem to tire of Negroni riffs, especially those with a balance that feels timeless. Enter the Rosita, a tequila-groni of unknown provenance, perhaps dating as far back as a 1974 edition of Mr. Boston’s Official Bartender’s Guide. gaz regan, the legendary bartender who unearthed and popularized the recipe, doesn’t recall where exactly he dug it up – but we’re grateful he saw its potential as a modern classic.

You can use Aperol or some other bitter aperitif, but we think it really does shine with Campari as originally called for.

Stir all ingredients with ice until well-chilled. Strain into a short glass over ice, preferably one large sphere or two large cubes. Garnish with an orange or lemon twist.
