Tart N’ Sand

The Tart N’ Sand is bartender Charlotte Voisey’s riff on the classic Blood and Sand recipe. Voisey’s recipe keeps only the scotch, replacing everything else with more complex, interesting choices: muddled brandied cherries instead of cherry brandy, Lillet Rouge (a red wine apéritif) in place of sweet vermouth, and a combination of blood orange liqueur and fresh citrus juices instead of orange juice.

Ingredients
- 4 whole Brandied cherries
- ¾ part Scotch
- ¾ part Blood orange liqueur
- ¾ part Red wine apéritif
- ½ part Grapefruit juice
- ¼ part Lemon juice
- 2 dashes Orange bitters
Instructions
Muddle the cherries in a shaker. Add the remaining ingredients and shake well. Double-strain through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry and/or orange slice, or any other citrus you have on hand.
