Twentieth Century

This cocktail was invented in 1937 to commemorate the Twentieth Century Limited train line that ran from Chicago to New York City. It’s such a strange combination of ingredients, so we were almost put off from trying it – we’re so glad we did! With a sweet tonic wine like Lillet Blanc, the drink is perfectly balanced – not too sweet, not too tart, with the faintest finish of chocolate. Superb!

Ingredients
- 1½ parts Gin
- ¾ part White wine apéritif
- ½ part Lemon juice
- ½ part Light Crème de cacao
Instructions
Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass, coupé glass, or a bucket for all you’ll care; this drink is so delicious it transcends presentation.
If we can stand to wait to extra ten seconds, we often flame a piece of citrus peel over the drink and drop it in.
