Cherry Crush

The Cherry Crush is a delicious sour from none other than Dale DeGroff, the man whose classy demeanor and patient cataloguing of recipes brought cocktails into a new heyday in the 1990s.
The drink is essentially what it says on the tin: strong cherry flavor from crushed sweet cherries and funky maraschino cherry liqueur, supported by lemon and gin. Despite its pretty color, it’s not especially sweet – it tends toward a dry sour, which keeps it crisp and refreshing.

Ingredients
- 5 whole Cherry
- 1½ parts Gin
- 1 part Maraschino
- ½ part Lemon juice
Instructions
Muddle the cherries in a shaker (note: you needn’t worry about pitting the cherries; just don’t muddle so vigorously that you crush the pits). Add the remaining ingredients and shake well. Double-strain into a chilled cocktail or coupe glass, and garnish with brandied cherries or a lemon twist.
