Genuinely-drinkable wine cocktails are as rare as rubies, and as lovely. That’s why we treasure this one, the Everyday Superhero from the rooftop bar at the Copper & Kings brandy distillery in Louisville, Kentucky.
Red wine (Copper & Kings uses merlot) and brandy – and so much of it! – sounds like it’d be hard to swallow, but the addition of fresh muddled blackberries, plus a bit of sweetness and sour, make it all deceptively juicy and sippable.
When muddling the berries, take care; they really only need to be gently pressed flat to release their juice, not violently smashed up so as to litter the drink with messy pips.
