Fireside Pumpkin cocktail by Jason Asher at UnderTow

Fireside Pumpkin

This Fireside Pumpkin (renamed from just “Fireside” since we already had that one in the index) is the creation of Jason Asher, the mastermind behind the brilliant UnderTow tiki bar chain in Phoenix, Arizona. Jägermeister, a sweet Kräuterlikör, is one of our favorite offbeat ingredients to bring into a tropical cocktail, and here Asher uses its baking-spice flavors to great effect alongside pumpkin syrup and condensed milk. Despite the pie-flavored base, the drink stays light and tart and utterly drinkable, a testament to Asher’s alchemical talents.

Add all ingredients to a shaker with crushed or pebble ice and swizzle gently with a swizzle stick or a barspoon twisted between your palms, or just shake gently with regular ice. Pour it all unstrained into a goblet and top with more ice. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs and a cinnamon stick with the end lit on fire.

Pumpkin Spice Cocktails

It’s that time of year in the Northern hemisphere, and in our neck of the woods everything is pumpkin-spiced: from lattes and candles to dog treats and hand wipes. Weary of it though we may be, we’ll never tire of using the spices it’s made of in delicious autumn cocktails.
