Fireside

Mezcal and creamy horchata are a match made for sipping by the warmth of a cozy fire, just as the Fireside’s name suggests. It’s the creation of Brandon Matzek, a San Diego-based food writer and photographer. Matzek calls for only a bit of mezcal to bring a touch of smoke alongside an aged tequila, bolstered by the warm spice of cinnamon syrup and walnut bitters.

Ingredients
- 2 parts Horchata
- 1 part Aged tequila
- ½ part Mezcal
- ½ part Cinnamon syrup
- 2 dashes Walnut bitters or Aromatic bitters or Cardamom bitters or Chocolate bitters or Mole bitters
Instructions
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into an ice-filled short glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
