Cocktail magic is found in those little moments when all the ingredients in a recipe form to create something entirely greater than the sum of its parts. Matthew Piacentini accomplished this in the Golden Dog, a recipe he invented back when he was the owner of The Beagle in New York. The recipe take a fistful of assertive, disparate ingredients and folds them into a new flavor: something smoky, fruity, honeyed, almost with notes of chocolate or baked things.
