Ichigo Sour

Strawberry (ichigo in Japanese) and sake are a classic pairing, and they’re at their best in the Ichigo Sour, a recipe from the Sake One company. Sake One recommends nigori sake, an unfiltered variety with more sweetness and rice flavor. However, this simple recipe lends itself to any type of sake, including sparkling. You could also mix it up by using strawberry or lemon syrup in place of simple, or lemon juice if you don’t have yuzu on hand.

Ingredients
- 3 whole Strawberry
- 2 tsp Simple syrup or Strawberry syrup or Lemon syrup
- ½ tsp Yuzu juice or Lemon
- 2¼ parts Nigori sake or Sake or Sparkling sake
Instructions
Puree the strawberries, simple syrup, and yuzu juice in a blender (or by hand, with a muddler). Pour unstrained into a short ice-filled glass. Top with sake and stir to combine. Garnish with a sprig of mint, a lemon twist, or fresh strawberry slices.
