Lawn darts used to be a staple of American summertime celebrations, but were banned in the late 80s; apparently, drunk adults lobbing giant metal spikes around children was not a good idea. Who knew?
Bartender Sean Hoard’s Lawn Dart is still legal, but no less reminiscent of summertime, with its aromas of fresh-cut grass and sweet lime. Hoard calls for green sweet peppers (aka bell peppers or capsicums), and those will definitely give the grassiest flavor – but yellow, red, or orange varieties will still produce a deliciously fresh drink.
Hoard’s recipe says the slice of pepper should be about 5″ long. This is dependent on the type of sweet pepper you have and the juiciness; it should be enough that muddling it produces plenty of juice to help you loosen up the agave nectar and make it fairly thin.
