Marmaduke

We don’t think we’ll ever get tired of the canine family of grapefruit juice cocktails (the Grayhound, the Chihuahua, etc). Typically, they’re simple, refreshing cocktails – just fresh grapefruit juice, a spirit, and a dusting of salt.
The Marmaduke from NYC’s Jimmy at the James is a little more complex, with two liqueurs and a kiss of brown sugar – but it fits right in with the rest of its furry friends. It’s a great way to introduce someone to the many splendors of aquavit, a caraway spirit that works surprisingly well with citrus ingredients and tiki-styled templates.

Ingredients
- 1½ part Aquavit
- ½ part Elderflower liqueur
- 2 parts Grapefruit juice
- ¾ part Brown sugar syrup
- 1 pinch Salt
Instructions
Shake all ingredients (except the salt) with ice. Strain into an ice-filled short glass and garnish with a pinch of salt and a lime wedge.
