Precision Timepiece spirit-forward cocktail by Sother Teague with Jagermeister, Aperol, amaro, and allspice bitters

Precision Timepiece

The Precision Timepiece is the creation of Sother Teague at Amor y Amargo in Brooklyn, a bar famous for its focus on stirred-not-shaken, spirit-forward cocktails. Teague himself is a living library of all things amaro and bitters, and you can see that pretty plainly here. It takes a deft touch to balance ingredients with such assertive flavors, but in the Precision Timepiece it all moves together like clockwork. Spicy, citrus-scented, tasty clockwork.

Jägermeister is the star here, and in such a large measure its complex, flavorful spices are able to be fully appreciated. Teague calls for Montenegro as the amaro, although there’s plenty of room for experimenting with your own favorites.

Pumpkin Spice Cocktails

It’s that time of year in the Northern hemisphere, and in our neck of the woods everything is pumpkin-spiced: from lattes and candles to dog treats and hand wipes. Weary of it though we may be, we’ll never tire of using the spices it’s made of in delicious autumn cocktails.
