Tiki-Tiki Tom-Tom is a richly honeyed rum Old Fashioned riff from Thomas Waugh at the venerated Death & Co. Waugh is a master of split-base cocktails; here he combines the spiced richness of a dark rum (he uses El Dorado 15) with a lighter, honey-forward rum (like Scarlet Ibis, a blend first made for the Death & Co bars). The sweetness comes from Drambuie, a whiskey liqueur with honey notes, along with a touch of honey syrup and a bit of Strega, a bittersweet gentian liqueur.
- 1½ parts Dark rum
- ½ part Aged rum
- ½ part Scotch whisky liqueur
- 1 tsp Gentian liqueur
- ½ tsp Honey syrup
Stir all ingredients with ice until well-chilled. Strain into a short glass over ice (preferably one large sphere or cube).
