Arrowhead Limited cocktail by Damon Boelte with mezcal, Campari, sweet vermouth, and IPA

Arrowhead Limited

Arrowhead Limited was the name of a train that ran through the upper midwest in the 70s, and it – along with childhood memories of searching for arrowheads in the desert – formed this inspiration for this burly, smoky long drink from Damon Boelte at his Grand Army Bar in Brooklyn, New York.

Boelte calls for Del Maguey Vida mezcal, Campari for the bitter orange apéritif, Carpano Antica vermouth, and Other Half IPA. Every ingredient is nearly as assertive as the one that precedes it, but the IPA manages to keep it refreshing. The optional grapefruit (or orange) garnish does a lot of work here, smoothing the drink’s rough edges with its scent.
