This simple twist on the classic daiquiri comes to us from Jeff “Beachbum” Berry, one of the world’s foremost experts in Tiki cocktail culture. He dug up this old recipe for his book Potions of the Caribbean. If you love tiki cocktails, you really must have that book!
Originally, this drink was called “Hitler’s Jitters,” perhaps named in an effort to amuse the American oilmen patronizing the hotel bars of Venezuela in the 1930s, when the drink was invented. A Cocktail Party user wrote to us and gently objected to having to see that name, even in jest. We think that’s a fair viewpoint, so we’ve shortened the name to just “Jitters.”
