Nog Nog Noggin on Heaven's Door blended eggnog recipe by Fanny Chu

Nog Nog Noggin’ on Heaven’s Door

Three types of booze, three dairy products, an egg, and the recipe’s still going? That’s what we like to see when we’re looking for a one-off eggnog, and this one was just the thing we needed on a Christmas Eve with no three-month-aged nog to be had.

This is a blended drink, and so it’s up to your preference how much ice you want to add to get to your preferred texture. Start with small cupfuls, adding one at a time and blending until it’s as thick as you want it. We originally saw this styled in a coupe glass, but blending will increase the volume significantly and give you enough for either a few smaller glasses, or one tall glass with a straw in it (our preference).

Add the egg to the blender, and blend until creamy. Add the sugar (measure by volume, not weight – just use the same jigger you’ll use for the other ingredients) and blend again. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until it’s all smooth. Add crushed or pebble ice, a cupful at a time. and blend until you achieve the texture you want (we like it just shy of milkshake thickness). Pour into small glasses, or a large glass with a straw, and garnish with a half-wheel of orange.
