She’s Leaving Home

She’s Leaving Home is the delicious love child of a Bourbon Lift and a Ramos Gin Fizz, named for a classic Beatles hit. Originally posted at Liquor.com, it’s since disappeared from the site (and the internet at large, it would seem), but we believe it was a creation of the Teeling company, makers of a fine small-batch whiskey.
We’re glad we were able to save this recipe for you, dear drinker, because it’s utterly fabulous. Whiskey (we think bourbon or blended works best here) and coffee liqueur are a no-brainer combination that are elevated both literally and figuratively by the addition of cream, egg whites, fizzy sparkling water, and the heady scent of orange blossom.

Ingredients
- 1½ parts Bourbon or Blended whiskey
- ¾ part Coffee liqueur
- ½ part Simple syrup
- ½ part Heavy whipping cream
- 1 part Egg white or Aquafaba
- 10 drops Orange flower water
- 1 part Sparkling water
Instructions
Dry-shake all ingredients (except the soda water) first without ice, then again with ice added. Double-strain through a fine mesh strainer into a tall glass or a double Old Fashioned glass without ice. Add half the sparkling water, stir to agitate, and wait a few moments. Slowly add the remaining sparkling water until the foam creeps over the lip of the glass. Sprinkle with fresh coffee grounds and garnish with a twist or thin wheel of orange.
