Lavender Old Fashioned

When we use lavender syrup, we tend to pair it with clear spirits like gin or vodka, and plenty of bright citrus juice. But lavender is equally wonderful with brown spirits, like in the Lavender Old Fashioned from NYC restaurant Miss Ada.
Miss Ada’s recipe calls for Angostura bitters, a classic ingredient in an Old Fashioned. We’ve also had it with lavender bitters, and prefer it that way – they don’t run the risk of overpowering the delicate flavor of lavender the way aromatic bitters can.

Ingredients
- 2 parts Bourbon or Rye whiskey
- 2 tsp Lavender syrup
- 1 dash Lavender bitters or Aromatic bitters
Instructions
Add all ingredients to an ice-filled short glass and stir until well-chilled. Garnish with a lemon twist or a sprig of fresh lavender.
