One-Armed French Hooker cocktail with genever, St. Germain, grapefruit juice, and sparkling white or rose wine.

One-Armed French Hooker

This is perhaps the best name we’ve ever seen applied to a drink, and it was almost censored before the world ever knew of it. Invented by Emma Hollander at Trina’s Starlight Lounge in Boston, the recipe was first served under the more demure appellation of “Lady of the Night.” We’re glad the original name stuck!

Genever, elderflower, and grapefruit are an enticing combination that somehow create a flavor akin to a tropical fruit, brightened by sparkling wine (Hollander calls for Prosecco, but you can use any sparkling white or rosé wine you prefer).

Shake everything (except for the sparkling wine) with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail, coupe, or flute glass. Top with the sparkling wine.
