Sloe gin

Sloe gin is a traditional homemade spirit in the United Kingdom, where the blackthorn bush and its sloe berries grow wild. Much of the sloe gin sold in liquor stores is barely worthy of the name. In the US, the cheap stuff is made with corn syrup and artificial colors and flavorings. For a long time, that’s all we had access to – we thought we hated sloe gin! One day, we found a dusty bottle of real sloe gin in our local boozemonger’s emporium, and it CHANGED. OUR. LIVES. The real stuff is tart, juicy, rich, and bursting with the flavor of winter in the English countryside.
