Shrubb (not to be confused with vinegar-based shrubs) is a classic liqueur from Martinique, a Caribbean island dotted with rhum agricole distilleries. Nearly every distillery on the island releases its own brand of shrubb around the winter holidays, when oranges are in season.
Shrubb is more complex than a typical orange liqueur, with a heady blend of spices, sugarcane spirit, and sun-dried orange peels. You can substitute it in just about any tropical recipe that calls for curaçao, and it’s a great fit for classics like the Sidecar and the Crusta, too.
