Yellow herbal liqueur

Chartreuse, Herbal liqueur, Suze, Strega, Bonal

Yellow herbal liqueurs typically take their color from saffron, an expensive spice long prized for its flavor and vivid color.

These yellow liqueurs are flavored with a myriad of herbs and spices, but most feature the flavor of gentian root front-and-center. Most are a little sweeter than their green counterparts (see yellow vs. green Chartreuse, for example).

Typically, these liqueurs are fairly interchangeable – but we’ll let you know if a particular recipe calls for a specific brand of liqueur.
