Scotch whisky (always spelled without the ‘e’) is made in Scotland and must be barrel-aged for a minimum of three years.

We also classify Japanese whisky in the Scotch group, due to its historical influence and peaty flavors. The Japanese modeled their whisky industry in the Scotch style, and distilleries in Japan are even located in climates similar to their Scottish counterparts.
