Salt

Typcially, salt is used to rum the edge of a cocktail glass before putting the drink in it (like in a Salty Dog or a Margarita). It can also be added to the drink, as with a Paloma. Don’t use table salt for rimming drinks. Instead, use kosher salt, or one of the many varieties of artisanal salts on the market.
